Privacy Policy

Moov In Checklist ("we", "us") helps renters document the condition of their rental at move-in. We respect your privacy. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Moov In Checklist is operated independently and is not affiliated with the National Association of REALTORS® or any state REALTOR® association or any landlord. Questions? Email info@themoveinchecklist.com.

What we collect

Account info: email address, name (from Google if you sign in with Google).
Report content: property address, move-in date, the condition notes and issues you record, and photos you upload.
Payment metadata: Stripe payment and session IDs. Card numbers are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store them.
Device & log data: IP address, browser type, basic usage events for debugging and abuse prevention.

How we use it

To generate, store, and deliver your move-in inventory PDF (the service you signed up for).
To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
To respond to support requests you send us.
Marketing & re-engagement: we may email you about your move — for example, a reminder to do a move-out inventory near the end of your lease, or a prompt to use Moov In Checklist again on your next move. You can opt out at any time (see Your Privacy Choices).
To detect abuse and improve the product.

Sources of data

We collect data directly from you when you create an account, build a report, or contact support. We also receive limited profile info from Google when you sign in with Google, and payment confirmation from Stripe when you purchase a report.

Who we share data with

Only with service providers we need to deliver the product. They process data on our behalf under contract and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes:

Cloud hosting and database (where your account and reports are stored).
Stripe (payment processing).
Google (optional sign-in).
Our email delivery provider (account, report-delivery, and support emails).

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. We will disclose data if legally required (subpoena, court order) or to protect users from fraud or abuse.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and reports while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by emailing info@themoveinchecklist.com. We may retain limited records (payment receipts, fraud signals) as required by law.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is gated by row-level security so users only see their own data. Card information stays with Stripe. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect what you trust us with.

Children

Moov In Checklist is intended for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on where you live (California's CPRA, plus Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states), you have the right to:

Know what personal information we hold about you.
Access a copy of it.
Correct inaccurate information.
Delete your information.
Port your data to another service.
Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (note: we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising).
Opt out of marketing emails.
Be free from discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

How to exercise these rights:

Email info@themoveinchecklist.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject and we'll respond within 45 days.
To stop marketing emails, click Unsubscribe at the bottom of any marketing email, or toggle "Send me move-out reminders and product updates" off in your dashboard.
You can also submit a request via our support form.

We may ask for information to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. You can designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of first-party cookies and local storage entries strictly to keep you signed in and remember in-progress reports. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking, which is why you won't see a consent banner.

International users

Moov In Checklist is hosted in the United States and intended for U.S. renters. If you access it from outside the U.S., your data will be processed in the U.S.

Changes

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you by email.
